I just finalized my airfare. Yeah! That was incredibly grueling - it's a
long story. I will be arriving in Cape Town on Sat 3/14 at 7:40 pm on
South African Airways flight 327 from JNB (a connection from SAA 202 from
New York JFK to JNB). I plan to go to Jo-burg on Thurs 3/19. And then I
will depart from Jo-burg on Sun 3/22 at 9pm on SAA 201 to JFK.
Side Trips:
Uwe (my friend) will arrange reservations for Sunday (3/22) and Monday
(3/23) at Soweto and Krugersdorp. I should have a confirmation by tomorrow
(Thurs) morning. For Soweto, he will make reservations for 5 (Jason, Mat,
Christian, Allison and me). Does anyone else want to do Soweto on Sun
early afternoon? Let me know ASAP so I can have Uwe increase the number on
the reservation. They will pick up at the Hyatt in Rosebank.
For Krugersdorp, I have some cool news - maybe you'll think so too. They
can do the regular game drives in a Land Rover as mentioned, but he also
said they now take groups through on horse back. I thought that sounded
great. I had him reserve this for 4 (Jason, Mat, Christian and Allison - I
will be outta there by then). It's only R100 or ~ $20. I know not
everyone may be fond of horses so I can always have him change this for
you.
Again, if you or others you know would like to participate and I haven't
included you let me know ASAP and I will ask Uwe to increase the
reservations if possible.
He will also call the proprietor of Cantina Tequila whom I know to see
about having a U2-ey gathering on Friday night before the Jo-burg show.
Airport Transfers:
I want to give Uwe a list of flight arrival times at JNB and CPT tomorrow
(Thurs) am so he can schedule shuttle service for everyone to and from the
airport(s). I will give him the info on Jason's web site
(www.radix.net/~ironman/joburg.htm). If you want to take advantage of this
ridiculously cheap transportation - $5 or less each way - make sure your
flight information is
included on this site (via Jason) or email it to me immediately. I prefer
not to give it to him piecemeal.
Guest House:
He will reserve rooms for 4 - 6 people at a guest house in Rosebank. He
will give me info tomorrow. Currently I have Patrick, Dana & friend, and
possibly Aja, Karen I, and Christine lined up for this. Let me know if
this is NOT accurate for you.
